I am trying to install Ubuntu 12.10 from a USB drive on a Lenovo Thinkpad X201: after I boot the PC, choose the language and click on "Continue" in the "Install" window, the installation just does not advance further. I tried to reformat the USB drive with UNetbootin (instead of the Ubuntu utility) and to use two different USB drives with no luck. Am I missing something fundamental? Do you have any suggestions?

we might need more information to troubleshoot, but you can also try the network installer (which is a non-gui installer) and chanses are you will not get any problems with that installer. you can get that one from ubuntu.com/download/desktop/alternative-downloads – Sam Nov 7 '12 at 1:08
