My webcam which is a USB PC Camera 2.0 is not working when I use Skype or Cheese but it works when I open it with VLC.

How can I make it to work properly?

I had a similar problem, although there might be solutions to fix this permanently, this is what I do to work around it. I installed camorama. Then whenever I need my webcam to be detected, I run camorama (which detects my cam), close it, then open up cheese/skype, which then detects it and outputs the feed. Although this is not a permanent solution, you can see if it works for you until you get a proper solution :) – nitstorm Nov 5 '12 at 10:55
I tried your methode but all I could get is just a fraction of the image it was capturing and it was not clear! I really need it to communicate with my family with this tool!! Help me please! – user104654 Nov 5 '12 at 17:27
