I'm new to linux and was wondering if I could get some help. I have the CD and rEFIt on my comp. I have installed Ubuntu and even got through the set up. But when I restarted my machine and selected Ubuntu, it would load the grub and then the screen would go black with a small white cursor (flashing underscore). It would stay like this for a few seconds but then the screen would shut off and upon turning back on the screen would be black with a small box with a random character in it.
I've tried multiple times and the character is different every time. I can't get back to any part of linux at all and was wondering if maybe I'm missing something.
Please help!
