I have a HP G61 Laptop which is running Ubuntu 12.04 and I love it. But, I am trying to connect it to my Philips 42" TV as a Media Center, but when I turn on the Laptop and change the Input on the TV, Nothing is Displayed. No Boot Screen, No Login Screen, and no Desktop. The Laptop only has a VGA Output, and the TV only has a HDMI input left to use. SO, I have a HDMI to DVI Cord with a DVI to VGA Adapter on the end to connect to the laptop. I don't know if this is the problem but I don't see how it could be.

If anyone knows a solve to get the laptop to send the signal to the TV, any advice would be appreciated.

  • Also the Laptop uses ATI/AMD integrated video, Not NVIDIA.
