im trying to install Haskell on ubuntu for 5 days, i looked up many sites but never found a solution for my problem so i thought i post it here.At first i tried to install it by using the terminal but it never really worked. So yesterday a friend of mine told me to install it via Software Center i downloaded it here

http://packages.ubuntu.com/lucid/i386/ghc6/download

mirror.informatik.uni-mannheim.de/pub/linux/distributions/ubuntu/

and everything worked but now i have no idea how to start it or the ghci compiler. I hope someone can help me!

( I have the latest 12.04 ubuntu version)

I think you'd be better off asking this at the sister site under the Haskell tag at StackOverflow where more Haskell folk hang out. –  AndrewC Nov 5 '12 at 13:40

First things I'd try (and I'm very much stabbing in the dark) would be to try which ghc, which ghci and then I'd nosey in places like /usr/local/bin and /usr/bin, but if it's there and not running, the installation didn't succeed or something's very wrong with your OS. ghci is the interpreter (excellent for trying stuff out) and ghc is the compiler. –  AndrewC Nov 5 '12 at 13:53
