Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Situation:

I have an Ubuntu 10.10 machine with PPTP configured as a server and multiple ubuntu 10.10 with PPTP configured as client. The clients all have the same username and password to log on to the server and the server assigns an IP address based on what is open in the pool (chap_secrets server *)

Problem:

Client x logs on as there are 35 clients online. It gets IP x.x.x.36. I'm connected to this client with my application. Three other clients log on, get IPs 37,38,39. Then, my client x loses it's connection. (wifi, bad weather, whatever...) Another client logs on and gets number 36, and my application runs again, but with the wrong client!

Question:

Is there a way to set the lease for a day or a week, without having to specify a new user for every IP in chap_secrets?
