I use Alienware laptop and have Windows 8, and tried installing Ubuntu using the Windows Installer. After installation I was prompted to restart, the PC then restarts and goes into a blank screen. If I try restarting by pressing the power key and select Ubuntu, it goes to a screen saying
grub and accepts Linux commands, but I'm not able to access the GUI screen.
