I have installed ubuntu 12.10 through wubi.

My primary OS is Windows 7.

When I select ubuntu from boot menu, it does not show the ubuntu logo, instead there is just a black screen until login screen appears.

How can I fix this?

@bcbc I tried both the tricks as said by 0x00F, but none worked. Everytime I executed "sudo update-initramfs -u" it echoed "update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-3.5.0-17-generic Warning: No support for locale: en_US.utf8" and the problem still persists. –  Rohan Shah Oct 28 '12 at 15:31

@bcbc I have not made any changes to the OS, except from few regular updates and the splash screen was available only once, when I started ubuntu 12.10 for the first time. After that every time I only see either blue or black screen until login, sometimes it even turns off the monitor before the login screen appears. –  Rohan Shah Oct 28 '12 at 15:38

Also It should be mentioned that I am using "Nvidia GeForce 9500 gt" 1 GB graphics. I have not installed any proprietary drivers I'm using default open source drivers. –  Rohan Shah Oct 28 '12 at 15:46
