I am using Lubuntu 12.10. I have tried this on Arch Linux as well with kernel v3.6.3. I am using a Logitech mk320 wireless keyboard. When I try to type Unicode characters using + an Unicode character code it writes a letter instead. I think that it may have to do with the key map and the kernel but I am not very sure though. My question is this: How can I make the system interpret the character codes correctly? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Are you trying to use ASCII codes or Unicode codes? – Ignacio Vazquez-Abrams Oct 27 '12 at 0:45
I am trying to use Unicode codes on the number pad. Sorry for the confusion. – Ostar Oct 27 '12 at 1:19
devav2, thank you for reformatting my post. I was unsure how to post code properly, as I am new here. – Ostar Oct 29 '12 at 23:38
