Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I want to install Ubuntu on a Vaio S series with 256GB SSD.

But Ubuntu cannot install the grub boot loader. What should I do?

I face the same problems as this question, but there is no answer to it.

I have Windows as well and I don't want to loss my data on that. My options for selecting boot-loader partition is

/dev/mapper
/dev/mapper/..... (a lot of them)

Please help.

It looks like you have some kind of RAID installation. /dev/mapper/ is associated with FakeRAID. See help.ubuntu.com/community/FakeRaidHowto –  user68186 Oct 26 '12 at 15:31
