After installing Ubuntu 12.04 from a DVD it won't boot. It is installed along side Windows XP. Windows XP boots with no option to boot Ubuntu.

IF you fail to see the Grub:- Insert a Ubuntu 12.04 Live-CD/DVD and run the following commands:
Reboot. Lemme know if it doesn't work as intended. |

This indicates that GRUB is not installed in the MBR of your hard drive. The way to remedy this situation is to boot Ubuntu using the recovery boot option of the installer cd. Once the Ubuntu system is running type the following into the terminal:
Reboot your system without the installer cd, and hopefully everything should work well. |
