You should probably ask a new question for Tomcat. – Jorge Castro Oct 23 '12 at 12:39

Download Tomcat

extract the file apache-tomcat-7.0.32.tar.gz using

tar -xvf apache-tomcat-7.0.32.tar.gz

if you keep the extracted distribution in user home directory then set up environment variables using below command other wise specify the path of the tomcat directory.

export CATALINA_HOME=~/apache-tomcat-7.0.32

you can set up any Environment variable usign export command, use below command for more info on export.

man export

once these env variables are setup

$CATALINA_HOME/bin/ start

to Start Tomcat

 $CATALINA_HOME/bin/ stop

to stop Tomcat
