I just upgraded my PC from 12.04 to 12.10. Everything goes fine, but after all I get into some troubles with Ambiance theme (screenshot), on right-click menu, or file menu; text have background what makes it unreadable. In 12.04 everything was fine, after updating I do not enable any additional ppa. I also try reinstalling light-themes. Every other themes work normally.

OP solved the problem by restoring old backupped Ambiance theme files from 12.04. –  Anwar Shah Oct 25 '12 at 15:36

I too have this problem, so it probably isn't "too localized" as marked. How can someone who hasn't backed up their theme files fix the issue? –  Steve Nov 17 '12 at 18:35

It's my backup. If you want to use it run sudo nautilus /usr/share/themes, rename folder Ambiance to eg. Ambiance.old and extract my archive. Changes will occurs after reboot. –  kubahaha Nov 27 '12 at 14:36

Thanks for your help, but I solve it in other way: I made backup of entire filesystem before upgrading, so I just copied /usr/share/themes/Ambiance and everything is working now. –  kubahaha Oct 22 '12 at 20:37

i am glad you find a solution congrats. But i guess some changes were made in light themes with 12.10 new release. Restoring themes from 12.04 back up may affect this or not..i just dont know –  polarkatenuchie Oct 22 '12 at 20:42
