My computer boots to a black screen, what options do I have to fix it?
Plymouth not showing after upgrading to Ubuntu 12.10

I have a 2.53 Ghz Intel Celeron CPU, 512 MB RAM, and a Geforce 5200FX GPU. I'm experiencing a a problem while booting:

During boot after Plymouth (boot animation) the monitor goes blank and Ctrl+Alt+F1 is not working!

In Wubi installer option (on boot) I have to press the ESC key and select "Start Ubuntu whith safe graphical" or etc. That worked. However I want to install Lubuntu 12.04 on my PC using LiveCD (not Wubi), and not have the "safe graphical mode", and "no acpi" , "nomodest" , "vga=safe" options enabled all the time!

@matrix I have been using Ubuntu since v8.04 and i have used the same Plymouth (Ubuntu Sunrise) in every version. what Im trying to say is it shouldn't matter what version you are using when you experience Plymouth issues – stephenmyall Oct 22 '12 at 13:19
What if you do this: boot to the livCD and use the option nomodestthen install Lubuntu. after installing Lubuntu install your graphic card driver. reboot and remove the nomodset option. check the [PIC] – Suhaib Oct 22 '12 at 13:21
@Stephen Myall! try to understand! problem is not the plymouth, is the blank screen. – matrix Oct 22 '12 at 13:32
