Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

It just gets stuck on the first screen (the one that tells me if there is enough disc space, if the power is on, and if there is Internet connection), and doesn't go forward (if it doesn't get stuck on that screen, it freezes on the next one, the one to choose an AP).

The computer is a Compaq Presario C700 with ubuntu 12.04 LTS installed. The DVD loads fine and even the Live Ubuntu 12.10 loads with no problem.

Note: The system doesn't freeze, it just stays "loading" for hours.

1) Did you md5sum check the downloaded iso? See help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM Check the number against the listing in the link for your release listed at: releases.ubuntu.com under the MD5SUMS link. 2) If using a CD/DVD, did you burn the disc as slowly as possible? See help.ubuntu.com/community/BurningIsoHowto 3) Did you select the media check before trying to install? help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/CDIntegrityCheck 4) Did you ever do a "memory check" (another live-media menu choice) on your PC? – ubfan1 Oct 21 '12 at 23:02

It's already working. I didn't have to do any of the above although I had already checked the MD5, burned the DVD at the lowest speed possible, and made a memory check a few weeks ago. It just worked...

By the way, I'm back to 12.04 LTS: 12.10 doesn't work as sharp as the previous version... pity.

You should consider adding this to the question description, as it is not really an actual solution for others to follow. Welcome to Ask Ubuntu :) – Mochan Nov 6 '12 at 10:03
