After updating to 12.10, my system won't start. I see the loading screen with the four orange dots, bit then after the screen is all black and flickering endlessly.

I thought to enter recovery mode and see what I can do. But every option I choose, I get the following message:

Fsck from util-linux 2.20.1 /dev/sda6: clean 348114/25198592 files, 21741845/100764416 blocks

The only option that does work is to root shell prompt.
