Just installed Ubuntu 12.10 X86_64 on my Thinkpad T60. Everything looked normal except I could't restart my computer from Ubuntu - the system hung somewhere and I had to press the power button to stop it and pressed power button again to start it again.

However,shutdown worked as expected.

Just a shot in the dark, but did Ubuntu create an EFI partition? My Acer has buggy UEFI support, and I had to re-run the install with noefi in the boot options. – henson Oct 19 '12 at 4:17
I think this problem has nothing to do with UEFI. I didn't use it: – John Ferrier Oct 19 '12 at 14:04
