When I right-click on an icon in the Unity search menu, it doesn't appear to do anything - although when I click an icon on the desktop, it displays a context menu.

Is this by design, or is it a bug (or yet-to-be-implemented feature?) Also, is there any way to enable the right-click context menu within the Unity search menu?

Short answer - design. – January Oct 17 '12 at 19:17
Unity search menu: you mean the dash search or the actual launcher? From the dash it should not show any menu, that is by design. – Bruno Pereira Oct 17 '12 at 19:20
@January Do you mean that the lack of a context menu is actually by design (and not a missing feature)? I see no obvious benefit to the exclusion of a context menu. – Anderson Green Oct 17 '12 at 19:20
@AndersonGreen I don't see no obvious benefits to using Unity, but I'm not its designer. – January Oct 17 '12 at 19:21
When I right-click on an icon in the menu, it doesn't even show an "open containing folder" or "open with" option - this feature has been available in the Windows 7 search menu for a long time, so I'm puzzled as to why Ubuntu hasn't implemented it. – Anderson Green Oct 17 '12 at 19:22
