Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 and I'm trying to connect to a network windows printer via samba in my university.

I've managed to define the printer and everything, even print a test page, however nothing else worked. When I try to print my own papers, the printer asks for authentication, even tough I predefined it with my user name and password. The authentication doesn't indicate whether is succeeds or not and nothing gets printed. When trying to change the settings again to save my user name and password, I enter it, hit apply and the settings aren't saved.

Any thoughts? Am I missing something?

I started the process on gnome shell and moved back to Unity since the printers app is better there.
