Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I bought this FRED called a 4 port USB network server. It allows the connection of USB devices via an ethernet port on the modem. It comes with windows drivers which work after a fashion as is the wont of windows stuff but nothing for Linux. I am attempting to get it to play nice with Ubuntu 10.04. I can see it and touch it with Ubuntu but haven't managed to connect. I have tried Fastab Samba Nautilus Disk utility and mount without success so far.

Part of the problem may be that I don't know what to call it to mount it. When I try to connect the connection is either refused, times out or asks for a password where no password is set. I can connect to the server part with Firefox

Anyone out there had any success connecting this type of device?

What is shown when you connect with Firefox? It can help determine the protocol. – ObsessiveSSOℲ Oct 14 '12 at 12:29
