My Sony DCR-HC14E camcorder (I know it's old, but it works fine for me) comes with a driver for windows and there it works fine as a webcam. How can I get it to work as a webcam in Ubuntu?

Have you plugged it in? Paste the results of lsusb while the camcorder is plugged in. –  user68186 Oct 10 '12 at 21:24

As you can see, my Handycam is in the list, but I don't see it in system settings or when I use Skype for example. –  Jasper Oct 11 '12 at 8:55
