Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I am running Ubuntu 12.04 and from wine have successfully installed office 2010. Whenever I open a word/ excel file, word/ excel creates a temporary file called ~$ _name_of_the_file and once I close the program, it renames the temp file as name_of_file.lnk. These annoying .lnk files normally would be deleted but in my case, they are building up on my computer so that I have to delete them manually.

My question: Is there a way to auto delete these .lnk files and if not, a way to force office to stop producing these .lnk files?
