It says to re-start my computer. Do I leave the disc in or take it out? I've tried several times, and it hasn't worked either way.

What does happen? What do you see? –  arochester Oct 7 '12 at 21:41

Does it go straight to Windows? –  hexafraction Oct 7 '12 at 21:44

Usually at that point you just leave the disk in, and it gets kicked out automatically during the reboot process. That's how it's designed to work; why yours is not working I do not know. Can you give us more information about the type of installation you're doing? 32-bit or 64-bit? What sort of partitioning are you doing? How large is the partition for Ubuntu? Do you also have Windows on the machine? Laptop or desktop? And anything else you can think of. –  Kelley Oct 7 '12 at 22:35

I think you'd better provide us a screenshot if not we wouldn't understand the question. Also please state the process...Is it installation? –  smartboyhw Oct 9 '12 at 12:49

May be there was some interruption with grub had happened when your installation is going on. May be because of bad download media. Better try a fresh download if it happens again. –  Dishank Aug 4 at 19:07
