My mother has a Desktop PC, I accidentally installed Ubuntu 11.0 Laptop on it, now the power settings are set up for a laptop.

Is there any way I can change this?

There are no different versions for laptop and desktop computers. What do you mean with "power settings for a laptop"? A desktop has power settings too. – stonedsquirrel Oct 5 '12 at 13:13

I think you are doing fine, just set the power setting how you like regardless of the type of computer. The only thing I see that looks odd is the version number. Ubuntu 12.04 is the current stable release, you should install or upgrade to that version. – Tom Brossman Oct 5 '12 at 13:24
