After I have installed ubuntu 11.10, grub menu is showing wrong device (/dev/hdb1) for my windows xp. But it is actually in /dev/hda1. So windows is not booting. how to change it?

have you taken a look with Gparted so you can see how your disk is called there? –  Julien Chau Oct 4 '12 at 15:57
