I am facing a problem for past few days. My acer 5738z Laptop with Ubuntu 12.04 is toally unable to detect my internal hard disk drive. I am currently using Ubuntu from external usb hard drive. I replaced the internal SATA hard drive with a brand new one but still my laptop is completely unable to detect that hard drive. I am facing a lot of problem. Please help me to get rid of this problem.

Does your laptop detects any of you internal HDDs? ...and what about the HDDs of the neighbours? If not, it's likely a hardware issue, unrelated to Ubuntu. – mikewhatever Oct 3 '12 at 5:11
