No package 'dbus-glib-1' found

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables DBUS_CFLAGS
and DBUS_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

  • mikewhatever, LnxSlck, Tom Brossman, Takkat, Amith KK - This question and its (correct, which I could accept it) answer has just helped me and saved me a lot of time! I have no idea why you guys went out of your way to close it. It might contain a bit too much quoted output, but Google has no problem indexing through garbage! THANK YOU Jorge Castro and @buzz-dee.

No package 'dbus-1' found
No package 'dbus-glib-1' found

The above message means that you need the dev packages.

The following commands don't work because your system is outdated:

You could install them with, if your system is not outdated:

sudo apt-get install libdbus-1-dev libdbus-glib-1-dev

If you get an similar message with another package, you can search with:

apt-cache search KEYWORD

Often packages requested that begins with lib and end with -dev.

Note: The Ubuntu version that you are using is outdated. You can use the current Ubuntu version with a newer Network-Manager. If you don't want to upgrade you have to manually search and download the dependencies from the internet and compile them.
