Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I ran Wubi successfully and it set up Kubuntu. It then prompted me to reboot. I manually rebooted later after giving some more space to my C partition.

So I reboot, go straight to the install. It said press escape for more options, so being the curious one I am, I pressed escape.

A few seconds later, the grayish boot screen for Ubuntu appeared. Strangely though, it only used 25% of my display. Then everything disappeared except for the cursor.

Now, I thought "Typical Linux... Doing stuff silently."

So I waited a while, assuming it was just fetching some files, but still nothing.

  • Windows 7 SP1
  • 1GB RAM
  • Nvidia GeForce 6150LE

Before you say change to nomodeset, I can't get that far.
