Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I am tired of using Windows Mobile 6.1 on my Dash, and I was wondering if there was a possible way to install a fully functioning GUI friendly version of Linux software to replace the OS and how to accomplish this. I love my PDA and I am afraid of crashing it by "goofing" around with the software already in place?

This isn't strictly specific to Ubuntu, it should be asked at Unix & Linux StackExchange – Uri Herrera Sep 30 '12 at 4:43

Theoretically possible since the TI OMAP 850 processor uses ARM architecture. Likely to be extremely experimental in practice however. There seems to be some work being done in this area:

HTC Linux

Probably better to leave it as it is unless you want to embark on a major hack. Just make sure your next PDA has a real operating system. ;-)

LOL rite. With modern times a modern PDA is essentioal. I realize that the PDA Excalibur Dash is relatively comapared to the Apple II E, the fact remains that of all the PDA's i have encountered, none compare to the relative distance reliability than the Dash has proven to be. Thanks but if it is a deep crack/hack that involes then I am willing to go the distance – Scotty Sep 30 '12 at 0:13
