I noticed today that my laptop's keyboard started misbehaving today, and there is a number of keys that won't work. If I plug an external USB keyboard, everything seems to work fine. I would like to know how I can make sure that this isn't a software issue of the Ubuntu 12.04 installed and in that case I should send the laptop to repair.

The failing keys don't seem to follow a pattern at all to me. From top left: F4, `, -, q, e, p, x, ... maybe a couple more.

I tried booting up with an Ubuntu 12.04.1 USB and the keys won't work either.

Any ideas?
