Ask Ubuntu is a question and answer site for Ubuntu users and developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have installed WUBI before in my previous laptop, and I had no problem installing it. Now, I've switched to a new laptop, and I can't seem to make it work.

I run wubi.exe and then it started installing, after that it asks for a reboot to be able to successfully install WUBI. However, after I choose to reboot, I get stuck at a black screen with that white underscore blinking.

After an hour, I decided to force shutdown using power button. After that it proceeded to boot manager and I chose Ubuntu. However, after I choose Ubuntu, I get a purple screen then suddenly my screen is messed up. (purple background, black and white stripes, like broken graphics).

I forced shutdown again, chose Windows during boot, and uninstalled Ubuntu. I tried installing it again. This time I waited for like 3 hours of that black screen, and same thing happens.

What am I doing wrong?
