I'm just an average Joe when it comes to computing (maybe less then the average Joe) but I hate tap-to-click.

In system and settings there is no touchpad tab?

Is it true that this has been fixed?

I'm using Dell inspiron N5110

xinput list:

⎡ Virtual core pointer id=2 [master pointer (3)]
⎜ ↳ Virtual core XTEST pointer id=4 [slave pointer (2)]
⎜ ↳ PS/2 Generic Mouse id=13 [slave pointer (2)]

This is really strange because Dell is one of the top manufacturers in laptops and Ubuntu one of the top distros in Linux and Canonical claims that they are working closely with Dell.

What issue are you talking about? Is there a bug on Launchpad about it? Moreover, Ubuntu is free and very simple to throw onto a USB stick and test. 700MB@20mbps means you could have it in five minutes. Two minutes later you could know for sure. –  Oli Sep 18 '12 at 9:56

There is no touchpad tab in settings. I've had Ubuntu for some time and never found a solution to tap-to-click, e.g. palm causing my cursor to jump by mistake. See the related posts to the right on this page. –  AWE Sep 18 '12 at 13:21

Sounds like all the more reason why this should be filed on Launchpad. How do you expect anybody to fix something that hasn't been reported? And if it has been reported on Launchpad it'll be closed as a duplicate (and you'll be able to track its status). –  Oli Sep 18 '12 at 13:54

Take it easy. Didn't know what Launchpad was. Now it seems complicated. Maybe I'll manage after a wile. Thanks. –  AWE Sep 18 '12 at 17:06

They're working on it: bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/606238 –  AWE Sep 20 '12 at 12:42
