Machine-> HP311 NetBook Dual Booting Windows 7 and 12.04

Problem-> Under System Settings - Power, I have attempted to set:

When the lid is closed: On Battery -> Hibernate When Plugged in -> Suspend

Obviously, Hibernate wasn't available after install and I enabled it using instructions found on this forum.

However, when I do close the lid, the screen locks and fans/HDD still seem to be going.

I've done abit of looking around the forum and it seems to be an issue related with Gnome? I've already attempted using dconfEditor and it clearly states lid-close-battery-action = hibernate. Is there a work around for this in the meantime whilst Gnome sorts itself out?

What happens when you run, from terminal, sudo pm-suspend or sudo pm-hibernate? – January Sep 17 '12 at 8:11
