I'm planning to but a laptop and run Ubuntu on it.

There have been a lot of questions about configuring Optimus with Ubuntu.
Excuse my ignorance but I'm a step behind.
How do I even know if the laptop ships with Ubuntu.

Does it depend only on the Graphics card?
Do I need to ask the company directly?
