There are a few possibilities, but I can't tell you which one will work.

  1. Install uniconvertor

    sudo apt-get install python-uniconvertor

With a bit of luck, you will be able to convert the file to SVG which can be opened for example in Inkscape.

    uniconvertor file.cdr file.svg
    inkscape file.svg
  2. Install LibreOffice with libcdr

    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
    sudo apt-get install libcdr

You should then be able to open the file with libreoffice.

  3. If you have a copy of CorelDraw, you can install VirtualBox, Windows and CorelDraw from within your Ubuntu installation.
