I'm trying to install Ubuntu from Windows XP using Wubi but, after the second progress bar reaches the end, the program stucks. I receive no error but also no progress at all on the instalation.

Over the first progress bar it reads "Downloading ubuntu-12.04.1-wubi-amd64.tar.xz" and over the second one "Remaining time approximately 10s", and it's been like that for almost 30 mins. This is the third time I try to install it and I keep getting the same problem.

After I cancel the process (yesterday I waited for hours) I see there is a new folder c:\ubuntu\ which size is 485 MB. When I run the installation again it says that it has detected a previous version that I need to uninstall before continuing. But the installation process never ended in the first time and when I reboot I never see a boot menu.

Does anyone has a cause and solution for this issue? I really need to install Ubuntu to finish a job.

Thanks in advance!

Download Wubi, then Download an Ubuntu ISO, place them in the same folder, then remove your previous Wubi Installation and run it again. Check the MD5 of the Ubuntu ISO. – Uri Herrera Sep 10 '12 at 0:57
