Check email using both a graphical and command line client

Question

I generally use a graphical email client (Evolution), but I would like to be able to check my email from the command line as well.

I have experimented with Mutt, but I think it is not possible to share the Evolution mboxes / maildirs.

So what combination of graphical / command line clients can I use in which they can share mail data (contacts, emails, etc.)
