i want to be able to login to my dream box using console and store some of my files on the harddisk there i managed to login using telnet, but non of the disk commands are working

like fdisk, partman, etc.

and i cant use apt-get to install stuff in there

so is there a way to know what linux distro and how can i upgrade it
