I have tried other threads here but none seem to precisely address or fix this issue. I have a new instal of 12.04 with Unity. Cheese is installed When i run gstreamer-properties it seems to work ok When I run cheese i get a black screen and all options are grayed out. When I command line cheese to start i get this error

Could not negotiate format

I have tried VLC capture device and it appears to work the command lsusb -v spits out so much info i can't make heads or tales of it.

Any help is appreciated
