I am using version 2.96 of Rhythmbox in Ubuntu 12.04. I want to be able to add album artwork to my music so it works better on my iPod. However, for some reason the Album Art Search plugin for Rhythmbox doesn't display.

I have checked the plugins menu, and it is installed and checked as well as the cover art plugin. However, it still seems it is invisible!

Please help!

Do you mean "coverart search" plugin or the album art search plugin installed from github? Try disabling all plugins and just enable the coverart/album art search plugin. Close rhythmbox and launch it from a terminal (type rhythmbox) - what errors do you see? –  fossfreedom Sep 2 '12 at 9:40

@fossfreedom Sorry, it was Cover Art search that came with Rhythmbox. However when I followed you instructions, all that happened was Rhythmbox opened. I couldn't see the plugin at all. Also, no errors were indicated to me in the terminal. –  Henri Sep 2 '12 at 20:06

@fossfreedom Sorry, now that I have played a couple of songs and closed it I've got some errors: "(rhythmbox:2548): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_value_get_uint: assertion `G_VALUE_HOLDS_UINT (value)' failed" This appeared three times after I played three songs. –  Henri Sep 2 '12 at 20:08

Please add this information as an edit of your question. Thanks. –  fossfreedom Sep 2 '12 at 20:10

What song, artist & track are you trying to play? Maybe these are not in the various cover art databases the plugin uses? –  fossfreedom Sep 2 '12 at 20:12

1 Answer 1

Once you've added the album art plugin, you then need to go to the rhythmbox plugin section and check the newly installed plugin.
