I just installed Unity. When I try to log in as Admin the screen go black for a few seconds then directs me back to the log in screen. I can log in as guest and create a new user but cannot set this user to have admin privileges. Any thoughts?

Do you mean you are trying to log in as ROOT user, rather than normally Created user – tijybba Aug 29 '12 at 5:30
OP is probably talking of Administrator/Standard user account type. – Mahesh Aug 29 '12 at 5:41
