I dual boot Windows and 12.04. The cable is not unplugged, it works fine on windows. Ubuntu disagrees.
I think the problem lies in the fact that my apartment requires you to register your device to use the internet over their network. Problem is, I can't get to the page to register the device because the internet just won't work.
