I've installed Wine 1.4 on Ubuntu 12.04. I downloaded Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. The uploader repacked it so that its an .exe application instead of an installed program. When I double click on the .exe, the screen narrows and starts flashing black and white. When the game finally loads, the menus are black and white and show nothing but a black box as the cursor. What's the problem? Should I install the game instead?

Enable forced S3TC support for your DRI2 capable graphics drivers through driconf. First, install driconf through the Software Center. Run it, click the "image quality" tab and toggle the first button to "yes".

GTA should work now.
