Dell 1721 with multi boot setup. Linuxmint 9 functions and works with no heat issues even when running several programs including videos.

Ubuntu, Pinguy or linuxmint 11.04 or newer causes the laptop to get heat up. Any idea's on how to fix this as this must be a system optimising issue? Only additional drivers installed were for the broadcom wifi.

If you have experienced this on Ubuntu though (and you likely could) you may wish to report a bug. Thermal issues are usually best resolved by fixing them at the source. :) – Jacob Johan Edwards Aug 25 '12 at 13:14
