I am trying to change the icon for .py file.
Still no success in changing the icon of python scripts. They remain like gedit icons.

Try this if you have an amd64 ubuntu version You can assign a specific icon to your files , or assign a specific application to open some file type , or even make mime type for your source files , or documents diffrent from the default one
