I am unable to run 12.04 properly in my computer. I have a 1GB RAM currently and Intel G31 family chipset (Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz). The Ubuntu system does not seem to run properly in my system as it does in the others. Even the dashboard takes over 3-4 seconds to pop up and so does each and every other thing. How do I solve this problem?

Another problem is that I am unable to play games in Ubuntu although I am able to do that in other systems like Windows XP and 7. Even game like Fifa 202 lags. What could be the problem? I am able to play Fifa 11 when I installed it in XP or 7.

I really love the running and the interface of Ubuntu but I am a gamer as well so please help me.

Do you have any graphics card installed. – tijybba Aug 19 '12 at 12:27

I have the same problem. My display driver is installed. My VGA memory is 128. Processor is 1.7GHz. I think Unity Desktop is drawn by my CPU, because I don't have a GPU. Now I'm using Gnome classic desktop. It's much better than Unity.
