I installed Compiz on Ubuntu 12.04, and the launcher and the top bar on the screen disappeared.
I tried deleting Compiz but it wouldn't let me. I tried to install Linux Mint 13, but it didn't let me do that either. Then I tried to reinstall Ubuntu 12.04, but the screen said the next:

Initializing and establishing link...

And then a little later:

PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE_MOF: Existing Intel Boot Agent.

I don't know how to fix it. I just want to be able to use my laptop again.

Have you tried with the compiz --replace command? You should open the terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T) and enter the command. – Lucio Aug 16 '12 at 0:56
but now i can't even start my laptop. When I turn it on, it just goes right to the PXE-E61 or PXE-MOF – Sarah Aug 16 '12 at 12:18
Don't you have the Ubuntu's LiveCD? – Lucio Aug 16 '12 at 23:56
no, i used a usb to install the OS. do you think that would help? where could I get it? – Sarah Aug 18 '12 at 15:13
What I recommend you is: boot your computer from the USB and enter the previously command with this system. – Lucio Aug 18 '12 at 20:51
