Have downloaded 12.04 (64bit for AMD) on both Windows and Mac. Burned CDs. None will load on new computer with AMD 64 bit processor. On start up get brief Gigabyte mobo splash screen, then CMOS

"Loading operating system
Boot from CD/DVD:"

But then nothing happens, and can't make any Y, N or other entries. Have tried changing boot order in BIOS with CD drive first, but still nothing happens. Any suggestions? Thanks

Try to increase the video RAM from you BIOS. Precise is a bit more clunky in graphics and needs more video memory.
