I have successfully installed Ubuntu on 2 other computers and my tablet

I am trying to load it on a Toshiba (using the same Live CD) but its failing to autostart when I start the machine

I want to hard install Ubuntu on the Toshiba and remove windows 7 all together! Like I did with my tablet!

How can I make this work?

@Tina You can use the same disc to install it on your Toshiba, you dont need to download it again – Stephen Myall Aug 12 '12 at 1:12
It wont allow me to, I have tried, the only way it works is if I have the disk in the drive when turning on the computer. It doesnt install when turning on the computer, doesnt ask me if I want to completely install Ubuntu Linux 12.04, telling me that it will wipe out windows if I do so.. like it did on the other computers that I successfully installed it on – Tina Aug 12 '12 at 1:16

I think it's just a problem with words we're having here. I think you are saying that you can run Ubuntu if you use the Ubuntu Live CD (which is a kind of disk), but it won't install (load it to the Toshiba's hard disk). Do I have that right? If so, when you try to do the install what happens that you first notice things were wrong. I assume you have tried exactly the same Ubuntu Live CD you used successfully before. Forgive me, when I hear disk I think of the hard disk rather than the CD. (ps. I'm writing this on my Toshiba laptop running 12.04--there's hope.) – John S Gruber Aug 12 '12 at 1:46

Hey @Tina, we are going to try to help you out the best we can, but we need clear some things before we can do so. You are using the same CD you used on the your tablet, right? You computer boots from the CD when the CD in on the CD drive. Once it boots do you not have the option to install Ubuntu in to your computer? What happens when the CD finished booting? – Bruno Pereira Aug 12 '12 at 8:02
