Sound is very sporadic and only sometime works. Sometimes, when I boot into the system, Sound Settings shows 'dummy output'. Rebooting the OS finds the (onboard) soundcard but no sound still.

ALSAMIXER show master volume 0, crank that up, test sound then volume falls back to 0.

Occasionally a power off and a reboot will come up with sound working. Often ALSAMIXER crashes (invalid argument) when selecting the VT82xx device.

Config:

$ alsamixer
cannot load mixer controls: Invalid argument

$ aplay -l
